The Metamorphoses of Titus

You want to know about first and last things, about he who wandered through the ages of the world? Well, here is his story from its beginnings at the dawn of creation to the day of judgement.

This is the story of Titus from the creation as Titus is washed up on the first shore to the Apocolypse where all the characters of the story commingle. It takes the reader through Genesis and Eden, Cain and Abel. It is the story of the one God and of his nation and the city of Akhetaten and the sun god and of Moses who takes the remnants of his followers out of Egypt to start a new life under a new god.

It takes us to the siege of Jerusalem by Titus and its fall which leaves the temple of Herod the Great in ruins and it takes us to the last hours of Bar Giora.

To the court of Archbishop of Altendorf who considers his life and the meaning of his religion, his art and his cathedral in the new style. He climbs the spire to see the sky through the new optic tube. What he sees threatens his faith. Elsewhere Rabbi Yitzhak bar Titus of Regensberg climbs the passus of kabbalah up Jacob’s ladder of the angels, fails and falls. In limbo they come together; their limbs speaking of the ways of their worlds.

David Pollard has a unique and precious talent. He is an artist crafting words and ideas, driven by a strong sense of aesthetics and ethics. The Metamorphoses of Titus is a major work

To this day I cannot understand that he is not recognized as a major force in the world of creativity and thinking.                                                                   – José Kozer (Winner of the Neruda Prize)
